Rationale
Your task for the assessment is to design a simple non-interactive prototype website in order to demonstrate your skills in:
This task will assess the content in the first three modules of this unit, and give you an opportunity to build and practice skills that you will use if you go on to design and develop for the user experience in industry settings.
Task Description
Your task for this assessment will be to design a simple non-interactive prototype website for a futuristic drink, snack or activity. The product MUST reflect something you might think will or could exist in the future. It does not have to be real – only imagined. You are asked to be as creative as possible. You will be also using this product in Assessment 2.
You will create a design style tile (see Module 1), as well as a Photoshop or GIMP file that has a design for a website of 3 pages.
You will also create a reflective report that will report on your experiences with the technology used to complete your assessment.
This assignment involves three (3) main parts:
1. A reflective report of at least 1000 words discussing the following:
a. A brief outline of the aim or goal of your website and your potential audience
b. A thorough explanation of how you have utilised tools and media assets as well as how you applied design skills and principles to improve user experience for your prototype website
c. in words or less, your user experience in using the graphic editor (GIMP/Adobe Photoshop) software.
2. A design-style tile which represents the overall analysis of your prototype proposal.
3. A GIMP/Adobe Photoshop project that demonstrates three (3) pages for your product.
Steps for the Assessment.
1. Read through all the requirements of Assessment 1 and Assessment 2.
2. Brainstorm futuristic product ideas. You may use ChatGPT or other GenAI to help you with the process of deciding on a product.
3. Decide on a product that will not only satisfy the requirements of Assessment 1 but will also allow you to use it for Assessment 2.
4. Create at least one style tile, to decide on the look and feel of your website. Make sure it supports your product.
5. Choose a style tile, and then design the website, taking into account all necessary elements.
6. Create your design in GIMP or Photoshop. You can use ChatGPT or other GenAI to provide text for your website to enhance your design.
7. Write your report, including your reflection on your user experience of using GIMP or Photoshop, and any other software you used.
