There are 5 pages that make up the portfolio

• PAGE 1 Has a Poster of one of the elements or principals of design and a written Position statement.

PAGE 2 is a Reflection on a specific exploration of teaching and learning in and with visual arts.

• PAGE3 is a Plan that you design for the implementation of some aspect of exploration that you have reflected on in page 2.

• PAGE 4 is a collection of 4 curated and annotated resources

• PAGE 5 is a reference list using APA7th edition or Deakin Harvard.

Your e-portfolio will be constructed in Pebble Pad or WiX                                                 

You construct each page first and then collect them into a portfolio.

You will construct the poster in week 1 and begin your position statement.

In week 2 you will write your first reflection and plan using the templates provided.

 In week 3 you will complete your position statement and complete another reflection and plan. You will then be ready to refine and present your portfolio for submission in week 4.

 

POSITION STATEMENT: You must have a 300 word or equivalent position statement about Visual Arts teaching and learning and also why YOU THINK it is important to include arts focussed activities in children’s experiences in early learning and/or primary schools. This is written in first person and should also include evidence of what you have learned about the way that theories of learning and pedagogy are implemented and how visual arts contribute to children’s growth and development. You must demonstrate textbook Dinham & Chalk 2018 Its Arts Play and the accompanying Primary focused text Dinham, J. 2016. Delivering Authentic Arts Education 2nd Ed Cengage Learning. This is your position on visual arts and should also articulate how you will plan for and implement experiences. You should reference the cloud materials and zoom experiences along with the curriculum documents – the aims and rationales written in the National Australian curriculum are a very helpful place to start. The development of a Position Statement meets GLO1 and ULO 2 The related criterion in the rubric is Justification.

POSTER (300 words equiv.) Each individual must complete 1 poster. You may work on this together as a group, but you will submit individually. You can explore ways of sharing - email your posters or share on Google docs This aspect of the assignment strengthens your ability to meet Graduate Learning outcomes GLO 2 Communication and 3 Digital Literacy.

We have included an invitation this year to include a resource that is especially devoted to supporting and nurturing the development of arts language. In Visual Arts this will be a poster of an examples of the Elements and Principles of Art and Design – this is known as arts language. Please include examples of arts language and supporting images or graphics you would use for a particular age level. You must identify the poster you create by inserting your name on the poster. For example, “Created by Fiona Phillips Using CANVA” at the bottom of poster.

• A 400-word reflection (1 in total 400 words) on the Zoom and summary of the related visual art exploration

• Learning Plan 600 words (1 in total 600 words) – using the templates in the assessment module- these should demonstrate your knowledge of how to implement the related exploration in some way.

• Four resources (4 in total up to 400 words) – one of these should be a professional resource that you can go to for further professional learning and resourcing. Consider adding examples of incursions and excursions.

Page 2 The Reflection and Summary. (400 words x 1 = 400 words)

Use the following headings to ensure you cover the content. This should be completed as soon as possible after the zoom session.

EDUCATIONAL VALUE 80-100 words How does this learning experience nurture knowledge and skills IN visual arts AND/OR how might developmental and other holistic outcomes or other learning areas be learned and made authentic THROUGH the learning experience? Are there particular theories of learning that have influenced this activity?

PREPARING FOR LEARNING 80-100 words - what are some of the important features of the environment, and setting up for this type of learning experience? Include adaptations and adjustment ideas for inclusive education - physically, socially, emotionally, culturally, developmentally etc.

THE EDUCATOR’S ROLE 80-100 words Describe the role of the educator that you either took as you implemented the exploration OR the role you believe might be taken. Did it shift over the course of the experience? Why? What level of support or prompting/provocation is required? When were the best time for interaction to occur? What aspects of the language of visual arts did you think were important to include?

YOUR LEARNING 80-100 words Refer to what you noticed and learned of techniques, scaffolding, modelling etc. Also write about what you learned in terms of art through your engagement in the exploration. You may have learned to draw or recognise the specific steps in a technique or how important paper is. As a student, how did you feel? How did you learn? Provide some specific ideas for how you would use the materials or technique. You may not see yourself as currently having the resources or the confidence yet, but you can indicate where you could go, what you could view or review or what you could do to improve your practice.

 

Page 3 Learning Plan

Complete one Learning Plan for Visual Arts. 1 x 600 words for Strategy/Sequence or procedural information only (1 Learning Plan in total for assessment task – 600 words) You must use the templates provided in the assessment module. Write these in word and upload to your wix via a button. You must write a learning plan based on the experience that was demonstrated in the seminar you undertook. You must adapt/adjust it in some way. Remember that this is a portfolio and should demonstrate a range of experiences and activities. It must demonstrate your knowledge of the language, materials tools and techniques of the arts learning area, the strategy/approach, the level or age group selected and assessment and differentiation.

 

4 Resources (100 words each 4 x 100 =400 words)

Locate 4 resources/materials - add these into your wix by adding a button. Curate each resource/material in 80-100 words – describe what it is, its best educational / professional features and how you will use it in your future teaching. For those of you extending on ECE140 they should be new resources.
