Introduction
Muscle contraction is a biological function that occurs in humans on a daily basis. The process of muscle contraction at a molecular level is termed ‘The sliding Filament Model’ [1]. Muscle contraction occurs due to the movement between actin and Myosin [2]. The basic structure of a muscle is important in understanding the sliding filament model. Muscles are made up of bundles of rope-like structures increasing in bundle size until reaching the muscle size [2]. Building up these muscles, are myofibres which bundle together to form, muscle fibres, which bundle to form fascicles which then combined are called the muscles [2]. The myofibres are divided into segments called sarcomeres containing myofilaments; the thin actin strands and thick myosin [1]. The boundaries to the sarcomeres are termed a Z-line, Figure 1 [1] . When the muscle contracts there is a shortening of the distance between the Z-lines [1]. Muscle contraction is an important process that occurs for with every bodily movement that occurs and can also aid in the homeostasis process of thermoregulation due to shivering which produces heat.How has the research process assisted you in expanding and improving your skills to find credible information?
