Rationale/Problem Statement:
Teacher motivation has been a recurrent problem in the education sector, yet it remains an understudied area, especially concerning the factors leading to low morale in teachers. For a good reason, high teacher motivation is linked to improved teaching methods, increased student motivation, and enhanced overall teacher well-being. A motivated teacher may make a significant difference in the classroom and a child's development (Schiefele, 2017). The topic was chosen since it is one of the researcher's areas of interest. I chose this research topic because of my personal experience working in a private-aided school in India as a pre-primary teacher for more than five years. In this journey, I have asked myself am I motivated in my work. What does motivation mean to my colleagues and me? This concept is also reflected in the (Bassot, 2020) journal. I found that regular punctuality, following commands, and documentation were considered appropriate indications of motivation by all teachers (Ramachandran, et al., 2005). Teaching and learning procedures, as well as the children, were absent from the image. As a result, it's crucial to determine what elements influence teacher motivation positively and adversely. The study aims to discover the challenges that primary school instructors encounter in poor motivation and propose viable solutions to improve their teaching experiences.
