Multiple-choice quizzes will be conducted twice, after two of the lectures taking place throughout the semester (see the Course Schedule below). The multiple-choice questions will be based on the previous weeks’ key readings and lectures. The purpose of the quizzes is to assess your engagement with, and understanding of the main themes of the course and of the key readings, as well as to align with CC’s goal of "continuous assessment" and "light-touch formative feedback". Quizzes will be online on Moodle, and you do not need to be physically present during those. You can access the quiz from any device able to login into Moodle (pc, tablet, smartphone). Quizzes will be available from 7pm to 11pm on the quiz day. You will be given a single attempt, and once you begin the quiz there will be a countdown timer running (20/24 minutes). Consequently, I recommend to begin your attempt at least half an hour before the end of the total time limit. Students will have to answer around 10/12 multiple choice questions; the correct answers will be discussed during the following lecture or in a Zoom video, in order to help continued learning and improvement. Quizzes dates will not be deferred for single students, except in cases of: a) medical emergencies or family bereavement, for which written evidence must be supplied; b) Leave of Absence, which requires you to apply for LoA to Sociology Department in advance. Only in these proven cases, students will be given a different quiz the following week.
