However, in this Case Study Assignment, as opposed to the Applied Ethics Assignment, you are free to choose (i) whatever moral issue in business you want to critically analyze, and (ii) which school of moral philosophy to pair with it. In their case study assignments, students need only critically analyze that chosen moral issue in business using a selection of themes, theories, concepts, arguments etc., that they encountered in Phil 2230: Moral Issues in Business.

Moreover, when you paraphrase, make sure that you thoroughly reword the content in your own manner of expression. When paraphrases read too close to the original (e.g., use the same phrases, change only a few words around, etc.), then that can also be construed as academic misconduct, even when a citation accompanies that statement. For example, the following statement could perhaps be considered an unacceptable paraphrase despite being accompanied by a citation:

attack of muddle-brained positivism (Whitehead, 204). When you compare the paraphrase in Example #3 with the original quote in Example #1, the wording is much too similar to the original. This sort of practice can constitute a form of ‘academic dishonesty’ because it appears as if the writer of Example #3 is presenting what are more or less the exact words of another author as if it were their own paraphrasing of that author. Quotations of 4 or more lines of length should be presented as ‘block quotes’ so that they are separated from the main body of the text, and placed in single-spaced, size 10 font, with the margins reduced on both left and right sides. A ‘Works Cited’ page containing all relevant bibliographic information should also accompany the assignment. Each entry should look something like this:
