This module is designed to introduce essential components of postgraduate information and knowledge management and information systems. As such, it will help you develop skills and knowledge that will contribute to your successful completion of your master’s degree.
1.2Module summary content and aims
Welcome to this Level 7 module: Strategy and Entrepreneurship. This is a critical subject area for organisations and therefore a compulsory module for the MBA course within the Claude Littner Business School. This module provides a rigorous delivery of the concepts and frameworks used in strategic decision making andentrepreneurial context and provides students with the necessary tools to undertake strategic management. The module examines the changing environment for businesses and introduces appropriate tools for analysing the opportunities and threats that are emerging. Different, and complementary, approaches to assessing strategic capability are developed.Analysis of the strategic position enables strategic managers to properly evaluate strategic options and guides the choice of strategy – this module enables students to make such choices more effectively by introducing and developing appropriate tools and frameworks for evaluation. Throughout the module, the emphasis is placed on enhancing understanding and application of concepts in order to develop the ability of students to appreciate the role of strategy in any management context and improve the ability of students to contribute to strategic and entrepreneurial development.
This innovative module focuses on company and organisation strategic analysis and decision making in the context of changing industry structures, and the uncertain business environment in which organisations function. The module examines theoretical and management issues underpinning a wide range of strategic and entrepreneurship debates relevant to modern organisations. An evaluation of differing approaches to strategy-making is explored in order to provide an informed and critical view of creative strategies. After introducing the strategy and entrepreneurship concepts, this module examines common analytical tools and frameworks used for the purpose of evaluating strategic context and future development opportunities based on the indicative contents below.
Module Aims :
1.To enable students to develop a critical and informed understanding of the business environment in which organisations operate and of the business opportunities.
2.To equip students with a range of tools and concepts of strategic analysis and business modelling that will enable them to assess the strategic position of business organisations.
3.To improve the ability of students to evaluate future possibilities and translate them into business models.
4.To develop strategic thinking and vision that can be utilised in formulating strategies, evaluating options and implementing strategic decisions.
5.To develop critical and analytical skills that will enable students to interpret complex business issues and understand their implications for functional areas of management.
6.To develop management skills and entrepreneurial decision making abilities, which can be utilised in strategic management in the student’s current role and future career.

1.Engagement
You are expected to attend all the classes and seminars and be punctual. You will get the most out of your support by working in partnership with your tutor and student support team.
