Purpose

The aim of Assessment 2 is for you to conduct a literature review on your practice improvement topic guided by your research question in Assessment 1. You have to analyse how well the evidence addresses the question , consider the implications for clinical practice and recommend changes or enhancements that could improve practice.

NOTE: You are encouraged to consider feedback from Assessment 1, and refine your question and database search before undertaking Assessment 2, if needed.

In your essay you will need to address each of the following:

• Review the main concepts/ findings in the literature in relation to your question

• Analyse how well the evidence addresses the research question

• Identify and describe the implications of this evidence for nursing/ midwifery practice

• Recommend practice improvement opportunities

The literature review should include a minimum of eight references .

Introduction:

• An introduction of your research question . This can be in the form of a statement, for example: This assignment will explore/discuss/evaluate/answer....

• An overview of the main themes that will be discussed in your assignment

Body Paragraph 1:

• This will be your first main theme . Focus either on the 'biggest' theme or the one that logically comes first

• Use a TEEL structure to help you format your paragraph, and make sure to open with a topic sentence

• Include evidence that both supports and doesn't support your theme to demonstrate you've considered
