Identify and briefly define the major processes and systems (and sub- processes and sub-systems) which are integral to the optimum performance of the mining operation.
Develop a model for each of these processes and systems which can be used to evaluate and demonstrate the impact and linkage of each process to the total mining system output or "product".
Identify the various dependencies between each of the processes and systems.
Assign overall quantitative output parameters for the total mining operation or system; and then assign input and output parameters for each sub-system and process you have identified in your model (quantitative where possible).
Analyse the overall performance of the mining operation in terms of compatibility or otherwise of process and system outputs relative to overall operation outputs.
Using the quantitative systems model you have developed, test the sensitivity of the total mining system output to variations in each contributing process and system, to determine the key "drivers" for the mining method/operation (Document this quantitative sensitivity analysis using a systems approach).
Briefly comment on the likely, most appropriate management strategies and approaches for managing the priority processes and systems - the key "drivers". Explain why particular management approaches/strategies are most appropriate for each key driver.
You should make reasonable, justifiable assumptions for any necessary information which is not readily available. The emphasis is on identifying and understanding the processes and systems, rather than accurate and comprehensive data gathering and analysis. Note: This is not a mine planning or feasibility study.
