This assessment task provides students with the critical insights into a high-risk personal decision making. The task requires students to evaluate the contextual influences that guided their decision-making and how this may influence business decision making.

Step by step:

Students will select a complex high-risk decision they have made in the past 12 weeks

The student will then analyse the decision using the contextual factors of ‘who, what, when, where, why, and how’

Each student should analyse the contextual feature and how it is used to is analyse the decision:

• Who – personality typologies and traits
• What – decision typology of operational or strategic and nature of the decision
• When – timing of the decision and available time to make the decision
• Where – the location of the decision (home, public environment, office etc)
• Why – the underlying need or state of deprivation: what did I want to achieve (ultimate outcome). Was this achieved?
• How – quantitative, qualitative or mixed forms of data gathered and used in arriving at the decision.
