Task : 1 OVERVIEW You will be given a comprehensive case study for a client with complex needs. In the case study, you are the Human Service worker at a community welfare centre. It is your role to work with clients on issues that they need support with. Firstly, you are to write an assessment report for this client that identifies and outlines the issues present, potential risk factors and suggested strategies for addressing these issues. Your second task will be to develop an intervention plan relating to the case study. You will be required to choose one model of casework to use in both your assessment plan and the intervention plan. Choose one: • Psycho-social models (models reviewed by Howe and Healy) • Problem-solving/task-centred models (models reviewed by Healy & Doel, Adams) Task : 2 DETAILS You are the Human Services worker at a community welfare centre. You are to address the following within your assessment report: • A brief introduction explaining which model you have chosen, outlining the key points from this model. • a summary of the client’s situation and strengths • an analysis of the client’s short- and long-term needs, taking into consideration what might be the underlying causes of their current circumstances • outline any potential risk factors and suggested management strategies for these risks • suggestions for how the case will be monitored and reviewed, and • identify the ways you will ensure that the client’s rights and responsibilities are explained to the client. You will be given detailed feedback on this assessment. This feedback will highlight areas for you to focus on in your preparation for next assessment task 3B.
