Your recently appointed CEO is very aware that the social and human skills which reflect the ability to get along with other people are increasingly important attributes at all levels of management and has also recently read about the concept of emotional intelligence.

She has asked you to produce a management report for her providing:
a. a critical evaluation of the theory of emotional intelligence, with Conclusions;
b. recommendations for how the Organisation’s Management Development Programme can facilitate the development of the competencies suggested in Goleman’s (1999) Emotional Intelligence Theory, in order to improve employees’ social and human skills.

  • Demonstrated a sound understanding of relevant literature, including material beyond the prescribed reading, but this may not original.

You will have met the criteria for Good and:

  • Demonstrated very sound understanding of Goleman’s theories and models applicable to organisations, using evidence of your chosen company to show the inferences from the analysis.
  • Cited relevant academic sources, offering a critical appraisal of their applicability to the particular context of your chosen organisation.
  • Included additional points that indicate wide reading and critical thinking about emotional intelligence.
  • Included relevant theory and current examples which are well integrated to support clearly expressed arguments and evaluation referring to the context of your chosen organisation.
  • Written in a style that is almost faultless, demonstrating professionalism and offering clear conclusions and recommendations based on the analyses provided.
