The CIA Triad was designed to form the cornerstone of any organization’s security infrastructure. A weakness in any one of the pillars can be an entry point for a cyberattack. In this two-part assessment you are required to analyse the three principals (tenets) of the triad, from the perspective of a Chief Information Security Officer, and explain to a person in a management position what each achieves for the overall health of an organisation implementing it.

Part 1

For each of the three tenets of the triad:

• Define what this tenet achieves in the context of a business that has information to protect.
• How can the tenet be compromised?
• What countermeasures can be employed to strengthen the tenet?

Part 2

Continuing from the business chosen in Part 1 explain which tenet(s) would take precedence over another when designing a security plan for that business whose security budget is limited. Decide what would be the most important asset for the business to help form your decision.
