Policy advocacy may take many forms, from individual advocacy inside an organisation with regard to one person or one policy, to group advocacy or advocacy within a service system ( see Module 2 topic 3 for more detail).

Prepare a submission for a relevant and recent government inquiry in your chosen field of practice. The inquiry should be currently open or has closed within the last five years, and may be either a Commonwealth (national) or state or territory inquiry.

Your submission should use credible evidence, including data, policy and peer-reviewed literature, to describe and analyse the following:

A. The government consultation, inquiry or royal commission that you will be addressing, including highlighting the terms of reference relevant to the focus of your submission

B. The cohort(s) of people affected

C. The social justice issues they are experiencing

D. Current policy responses to those issues, and

E. Recommendations for action (improved policy responses).
