Observation/Demonstration

Throughout this unit, you will be expected to show your competency of the elements through observations or demonstrations. Your instructor will have a list of demonstrations you must complete or tasks to be observed. The observations and demonstrations will be completed as well as the activities found in this workbook. An explanation of demonstrations and observations:

Demonstration is off-the-job A demonstration will require: 

  • Performing a skill or task that is asked of you; 
  • Undertaking a simulation exercise.

Observation is on-the-job The observation will usually require: 

  • Performing a work-based skill ortask; 
  • Interaction with colleagues and/or customers.

Your instructor will inform you of which one of the above they would like you to do. The demonstration/observation will cover one of the unit’s elements.

The observation/demonstration will take place either in the workplace or the training environment, depending on the task to be undertaken and whether it is an observation or demonstration. Your instructor will ensure you are provided with the correct equipment and/or materials to complete the task. They will also inform you of how long you have to complete the task.

Assessment Objectives

You must be able to demonstrate essential knowledge required to effectively do the task outlined in Elements of this unit:

You also must be able to demonstrate essential knowledge required to effectively complete tasks outlined in elements and performance criteria of this unit, manage tasks and manage contingencies in the context of the work role.

This includes knowledge of:

  • legislative codes of ethics pertinent to ICT industry 
  • federal, state and territory legislation and policies applicable to ICT environments and relating to:
    • copyright and intellectual property
    • privacy 
  • organisational communication processes and procedures related to applying IP, ethics and privacy policies in ICT environments.

Task 1 – Role play

In continuation to the previous Assessment Task 2, in this part, you are required to conduct a meeting with administration staff to check that new copyright, privacy policies and procedures and code of ethics and professional conduct are followed properly. You need to ask range of questions to understand administration staff knowledge related to updated documents.

Administration staff roles will be played by trainer/assessor. You will play a role of the Information Security Manager. Trainer/assessor will swap the roles to perform multiple conversations. Students will be assessed individually for their participation for this assessment task.

Questions

  1. What are the legislations applicable to copyright and privacy policies and procedures? 
  2. If a third party is requesting other customer information, then what process do you follow? 
  3. Prior to recording client conversations what information do you need to provide? 
  4. What questions do you ask to confirm the client identity?
  5. Do you disclose any client information to third party? If yes, then what process do you follow.

Task 2 - Report on grievance procedure

Based upon the updated policies, procedures, code of ethics and professional conduct documents from Summative Assessment Task 2, develop a grievance procedure for any IP stakeholder complaint.

You need to include below information in your grievance procedure: 

  • Provide clear and easy to understand information 
  • Provide timeline to respond the complaint 
  • Who will be responsible? 
  • Stakeholders rights and responsibility 
  • If ACM do not resolve the complaint then what steps stakeholder needs to follow.
