Assignment Objective

The aim of this assignment is to develop a sustainability plan. This course focuses on principles of sustainability including social-cultural, economic-political, and environmental as essential factors affecting the overall long-term viability of a project. As such, this assignment incorporates the knowledge learned in this course, and in previous assignments, to address the sustainability goals of a project.

The Sustainability Goals

In this assignment, you are tasked with developing a sustainability plan, for a three year period, for a fish and seafood restaurant which intends to open. The business is located in rural Ontario, Canada. In this plan, you will want to utilize the previously completed Stakeholder Analysis. Your plan should align and be guided by the relevant United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) outlined by the United Nations.

  1. In this assignment, you will need to establish a sustainability vision which incorporate the best expectations collected from the various stakeholders in Assignment #1. This vision should be no more than a clear and concise 3-4 sentences.
  2. In paragraph form and with researched data for each topic, you will need to describe the 6 sustainability goals listed here:
  • Building Energy Use (e.g. Value Natural Resources, Reduce Pollution, Save Money)
  • Water Consumption (e.g. Value Natural Resources, Save Money)

  • Present your research into a comprehensive sustainability plan that (1) shows how each of the 6 goals listed above (e.g. Building Energy Use, etc) will be addressed; (2) lists which stakeholders will be involved in each goal with elaboration (e.g. local residents will be fed at reasonable prices with healthy foods); and (3) lists the SDGs that will be fulfilled by addressing each goal with elaboration (e.g. SDG 14 Life Below Water will be fulfilled by sourcing fish in responsible ways that do not harm fish populations)

8 - Conclusion and Recommendations

  • Summarize your plan (what is the ideal sustainable picture of the restaurant in the future?)

9 - Bibliography (including all first and secondary data used in the plan in APA format)
