This module will provide you with the opportunity to apply the knowledge you have gained throughout your graduate studies and potentially engage with clients to address key challenges. You will be mentored by an academics mentor who will offer guidance and critique of options you may decide to consider when undertaking the consultancy project. Realistically, the precise focus and content of the project is intrinsically unique and is negotiated between the consultancy project student(s), the supervisor and possibly the client organisation. The module exposes students to key management and research tools necessary to undertake a business research project. The consultancy project provides students to gain exposure to a commercial problem / challenge in which students apply the theoretical knowledge gained throughout their academic studies to ensure the outcome of their findings and recommendations adds value to the subject under study.

In the first stage of the assessment where the student(s) will outline their proposal it is expected that each student(s) will have the opportunity to discuss a client / desktop / entrepreneurial project in order to develop a proposal. It is expected that the student(s) will demonstrate their knowledge and application of theory to a designated project by detailing the following in their proposal:

• Clarifying core Aim and Objectives of the study;

• Undertaking a critical review of the literature related to the subject under investigation;

• Justifying an appropriate research methodological design;

• Outlining how secondary data and/or collecting empirical data will be captured;

• Describing what analysis will be undertaken, ensuring that it is appropriate for Master’s level study;

• Including any relevant appendices to support the project under study;

• Develop a project plan that clearly outlines key activities that will be undertaken in the designated timeframe assigned to the project;

• Ensuring that the report has been proof read, accurately referenced and logically structured so that there is a flow in the sequence of issues discussed.
