Students will analyse the case within its theoretical context in order to integrate business practice with ethical theories covered in the course.

Details:

This assignment is to be submitted by the due date soft-copy though learning management. The assignment is to be submitted in accordance with assessment policy stated in the unit Outline. It is the responsibility of the student submitting the work to ensure that the work is in fact his/her own work. Ensure that when incorporating the works of others into your submission that it appropriately acknowledged.

The assessment is to be presented in a case study report.

Outline:

Students must:

1. Provide an overview of the case, summarise problems and relate problems to ethical theories.

2. Identify possible solutions to problems and evaluate advantages/disadvantages of solutions.

3. Make realistic recommendations based on solutions identified and ensure solutions are supported by ethical theories.

The object of this case study is to lay out and defend a particular decision about a controversial case. It is therefore important that students take a position, even if they are personally unsure about what is ethically best.

Assessments will be evaluated by how well a student articulates and argues for an ethical judgment about the case using known facts and relevant ethical theories. The lecturer and students do not necessarily have to agree as there is no single ‘correct’ answer (40 marks, max. 2,000 words).

She explains to the customer this is a much better deal and she can pay using a Buy Now Pay Later scheme.

The Customer agrees and Samantha fills in the paperwork. The “loan” is declined because the customer only has 11 months’ work experience.
