The Business - Project Scope Overview Tracksuits-N- Sportswear Company Limited is a small mail order business that wishes to exploit information systems technologies as a means to improve the efficiency of their business operations. Using your knowledge of Information Systems analysis, you should assess how these technologies could be adopted by Tracksuits-N- Sportswear. It is your responsibility to understand Tracksuits-N- Sportswear’s business strategy including their products and/or services, define the scope of the project, develop an appropriate plan of action, and recommend appropriate strategies for presentation to the client. Overview of Tracksuits-N- Sportswear Tracksuits-N- Sportswear is located in Brisbane, and sells T-shirts and tracksuit tops and pants. They have defined their mission as being a provider of high-quality T-shirt and tracksuit apparel using simple designs. They purchase the right to use the name/logo of institutions (e.g., universities) and sports franchises for their designs. For the first two years of operation, Tracksuits-N- Sportswear operated out of a garage office. However, because of a rapid increase in demand for their products, the owners leased commercial premises to house all aspects of their operation: sales/marketing, production, distribution, billing, and administration. During the first year after the move, Tracksuits-N- Sportswear increased its workforce by approximately 50% in an effort to keep up with demand. Since then, however, profits have started to decline. The owners feel that the lack of a proper information infrastructure is the main cause for the drop in profits. Tracksuits-N- Sportswear would like to upgrade its information systems in an effort to restore profitability and to continue expanding its business. Question: 1. Explain your choice of the 3 most useful investigation techniques that you have used to investigate the new automated information system, TNS and the reasons for choosing them. 2. After you have analysed your collected information from TNS, produce the following UML diagrams for TNS as the specifications for a new automated information system, Tracksuit-N- Sportwear Information System (TNSIS). A. Use Case Diagram – 1. With all the critical use cases in the entire system B. Domain Model Class Diagram – 1. With all important classes needed in the entire system C. An Activity Diagram – 1. Assume that a clerk is an actor using the new system for retrieving an existing customer. The system helps the clerk to locate an existing customer.With information of the located existing customer, the clerk will place a new sale order for the existing customer. Use 2 swimlanes as an actor (Clerk) and a system class object to show the above system work flows. D. A System Sequence Diagram – 1. Assume that a purchasing personnel is an actor using the new system forprinting a purchase order. Show this specific system process in a system sequence diagram.
