Aim (What we hope to achieve):

• The aim of this community program is to enable local landowners and the rural fire brigades in South-Western Sydney to learn fire management techniques from the traditional owners with the hope that they will maintain the relationship and adopt these techniques in the future.
• Provide an alternative to the currently used ‘Fire Hazard reduction burns’

Objectives (The action/s we will take to achieve the aim):

• Advertise to landowners in South-Western Sydney, asking if they would be willing to allow Indigenous elders to conduct a ‘Fire Reduction burn (i.e., a cool burn) on their land this winter
• Host a community event in which key stakeholders attend and watch/ participate in a cool burn on the land of local landowners
• Stakeholders:
• Dharug, Tharawal, Gundungurra Traidtional owners
• Indigenous people with knowledge of cool burning
• Southern Highlands Rural Fire services
• Including Bargo and Tahmoor RFS
• Conservation ecologist (Central Tablelands Local Land Services, NSW)
