You are the Instructional Designer responsible for designing and developing the assessment tool for use by other assessors.You are responsible for the design and development of the assessment tool and all associated documents. You do not enter the dates and time and venues of assessments unless you know when and where they will take place – this is usually the role of the assessor.As you are the Instructional Designer you can utilise the templates provided for use in this project or design and develop your own. Guidance for accessing templates available to you is provided throughout this assessment instrument, and in the ASS Cluster Assessment Guide.

To complete this project, you must complete the following –

  •  You are required to design and develop an assessment tool which covers an entire competency standard (unit of competence and its assessment requirements).
  •  The competency standard you select must be different to that used in ASS Projects 1, 2, 3 and 5.
  •  You must provide background information regarding the contextualisation of the competency standard and the intended target audience for this assessment tool.
  •  You must develop a competency map, ensuring all criteria is covered in the assessment tool, and that it adheres to the principles of assessment and rules of evidence.
  •  You must develop an assessment plan and risk control plan, describing the organisational, personnel and safety logistics associated with the assessment tool and its deployment.
  •  You must develop an assessor guide, providing clear logistic and assessment benchmark information for use by assessors when using the assessment tool.
  •  You must develop suitable assessment instruments for the collection of evidence, ensuring these meet the principles of assessment and rules of evidence.
  •  You must ensure you develop clear instructions to guide both assessors and candidates when using the assessment tool
  •  You must have your assessment tool reviewed and trialled by TAE peers, or colleagues within your workplace/industry, seeking feedback and opportunities to improve your assessment tool.
  •  You must review and record feedback obtained in the trial and review of your assessment tool and identify items in need of revision. Revisions must be clearly identified and completed with suitable use of document versions control implemented to record document history.
  •  You must answer a series of knowledge questions related to the design and development process and reflect on your efforts when completing this project.
  •  You must print and complete the Assessment Tool Designer Declaration, confirming all work completed is your own
