Assessment Task Instructions

Task 2 – Project

  1. Develop a project schedule.

  2. Participate in a role play to achieve agreement on the schedule baseline.

Task 3 – Project

  1. Implement the project schedule.

  2. Participate in a role play to develop responses to schedule changes.

  3. Prepare a report assessing time management outcomes.

All activities must be completed individually using project management software specified by your RTO.

Purpose of Assessment

This task evaluates your ability to:

  • Create work breakdown structures (WBS)

  • Estimate duration and effort

  • Identify schedule impacts and critical paths

  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders

  • Use project management software

  • Analyse project performance and propose improvements

Assessment Task 2

  1. Create a WBS with levels for project, work packages, and activities.

  2. Estimate duration using the three-point estimation method.

  3. Determine the critical path using scheduling techniques.

  4. Develop the schedule in Excel starting from 15 January 2026.

  5. Participate in a role play to finalise the schedule baseline and send follow-up emails to stakeholders.

Assessment Task 3

  1. Measure and record project progress.

  2. Create a Gantt Chart in Excel showing planned vs actual progress.

  3. Conduct a time impact analysis to calculate Earned Value (EV), Planned Value (PV), and Schedule Variance (SV).

  4. Forecast the effect of changes and recommend improvements.

  5. Update the schedule to reflect progress.

  6. Participate in a role play to discuss schedule changes.

  7. Prepare a final report assessing time management outcomes.
