The past five years you’ve owned a small, very successful bicycle repair shop in Toronto – employing six “SpokeMDs701” – special bicycle repair technicians. You believe cycling will grow in popularity and want to own a fleet of bicycles and vans that pay “house” or “road” calls to cyclists with urgent problems. This includes purchasing loaner bikes for cyclists who must leave their bikes with the shop for more than a few hours. This is not an original idea, but you’re confident your existing customer base is solid and will continue to grow with this eco-friendly and economical form of transportation. You approached your bank for a loan and it is interested in your proposal. The bank requests you respond to the following questions with “evidence-based” intelligence on a number of issues:
Prove cycling is robust now and growing in Toronto.

• Are governments supporting cyclists’ infrastructure in Toronto? Into the future?

• Describe the competitive landscape for these services in Toronto? What distinguishes / will distinguish your company?
