Conduct a strategic audit on one Low Cost Carrier (LCC) from South America (Not including LATAAM) or South East Asia, in order to propose a creative strategy for one element of the business to enhance its long-term success in a changing environment.

In order to do this complete the following tasks:

• A – Critically examine the current strategic position of the LCC

• B – Evaluate strategic options for one element of the business to exploit new opportunities whilst treating risks

• C – Develop feasible and suitable strategic objectives to realise the chosen option from Task B

TASK

When choosing the LCC to base your report on, ensure that you are able to obtain enough information via their website and company reports, industry reports and periodicals, and media content. A suggested list of LCC will be presented on CANVAS for you to choose from if required. The ability to make a justified and well informed choice is a key developmental point at this level of your studies.

A - develop an understanding of the internal and external environment of your chosen LCC, in order to identify opportunities for potential long-term success. Various strategic models can be used to undertake this. See the guidance notes within the report template and lecture/SBA content.

B - The clear identification and evaluation of two possible strategies. The use of customised strategic models is expected in this section. The guidance notes, lecture and SBA content and your extended reading will prepare you for this. This section will be based on both contemporary LCC model data/understanding and academic content.

C - Choose one of the options generated in Task B. Present the strategic objectives required to realise this strategic direction. This section needs to relate back to Task A in terms of the context that your chosen LCC sits within. Offer an appraisal of any significant challenges that the LCC may experience in pursuing this strategic direction. The use of industry reports and contemporary academic research are required to support your discussion.
